This page covers the UK Family Visa (Partner route) — the visa for spouses, civil partners, and unmarried partners of British citizens or people settled in the United Kingdom. It is not a visitor visa. The Family Visa grants an initial 33-month stay with the right to live and work, and leads to indefinite leave to remain after five years. Every applicant must meet an English language requirement, and most must provide a tuberculosis test certificate. The sponsor must earn at least £29,000 a year to meet the financial requirement.
