How we started
Visa Entry Rules is a free reference for travellers who need accurate entry information before they fly. No paywalls, no sign-ups and no paid recommendations.
Visa rules are public information, but they are not easy information. The requirements that apply to a traveller depend entirely on the passport they hold and the country they are visiting, and those requirements change more often than most people expect. Government websites are thorough, but they are written to administer rules rather than to explain them to someone trying to work out whether they need to apply for anything before booking a trip.
We built Visa Entry Rules to make that easier. Rather than listing requirements in general terms, each guide covers a specific passport and destination combination. A British citizen travelling to Canada and a South African citizen travelling to France each get the information that applies to them, not a broad overview that applies to no one in particular.
Free to useNo sign-ups, no paywalls and no paid recommendations. The information is publicly available and should stay that way.
Officially sourcedEvery guide links to the government or official source for that route so you can verify the details before you travel.
Regularly reviewedEntry requirements change. We review guides and update them when fees, formats or processes shift.
What each guide covers
Each guide answers the same practical questions. Whether you need a visa applied for in advance, an electronic travel authorisation completed online in a few minutes, or simply a valid passport on arrival. What the process involves, how long it takes and what it costs. The aim is to answer those questions without sending you across multiple government pages to piece together the answer yourself.Every guide links to the relevant official government source.
If requirements have changed since the guide was last reviewed, that link is where the current information will be.
Keeping it current
Visa rules, fees and electronic travel authorisation schemes change more regularly than most people expect. Governments update processing times, adjust costs and introduce new requirements, often without much public notice. We review guides on a rolling basis and update them when requirements change. Each article shows when it was last checked.
For anything complex or time-sensitive, confirming directly with the relevant embassy or the official government website is always the right step before you travel.
Visa and immigration help
If you need assistance beyond what a guide covers, we offer visa and immigration advice for travellers, families and people planning to work or settle abroad. Whether you are working through a specific application, unsure which visa category applies to your situation or dealing with a more complex immigration matter, we are available to help.
