Japan entry requirements for travellers from Cambodia
Do Cambodian citizens need a visa for Japan?
Yes. Cambodian passport holders must obtain a visa before travelling to Japan. There is no visa on arrival for Cambodian nationals.
Cambodian applicants can apply for a Japan eVisa directly online. You do not need to visit the embassy or use a travel agent to access the eVisa system.
How long can you stay in Japan?
A short-stay visa permits a maximum of 90 days per visit. The exact permitted duration is decided by the immigration officer at the port of entry. Short-stay visas cannot be extended from within Japan.
Passport validity requirements
Your passport must remain valid for the full duration of your stay. At least one blank page is required for entry stamps. Japan does not impose a six-month validity requirement beyond your departure date.
Proof of funds
You must show evidence of sufficient funds for your trip. Bank statements covering the past three months are typically required. There is no fixed minimum, but your balance should reflect the cost of your accommodation and daily expenses.
Onward or return travel
A confirmed return or onward ticket is required at the time of application and on arrival in Japan.
Applying for your Japan eVisa
Cambodian nationals can apply directly through Japan’s eVisa portal without visiting an embassy or using an agent.
Documents required: completed online visa application form, valid passport, one recent passport-size photograph (4cm x 3cm, white background), confirmed return flight booking, accommodation confirmation, a detailed day-by-day itinerary, three months of bank statements, and an employment certificate or proof of self-employment.
The fee is ¥15,000 for single-entry and ¥30,000 for multiple-entry, paid online by credit card. Once approved, the visa is issued electronically and linked to your passport. No physical sticker is placed in your passport.
Processing typically takes 3 to 5 business days. Apply at least two to three weeks before your travel date.

Health requirements
No vaccinations are required to enter Japan. All COVID-19 entry requirements have been lifted.
Other entry requirements
You must complete a disembarkation card during your flight. Fingerprinting and photography are taken at the port of entry. Cash or valuables over ¥1,000,000 must be declared at customs.
