Thailand entry requirements for travellers from New Zealand
Visa requirement summary
New Zealand passport holders can visit Thailand without a visa for tourism and short stays. The current visa exemption grants up to 60 days per entry.
The Thai Cabinet approved a reduction to 30 days for most countries including New Zealand, but as of late 2026 this change was not yet published in the Royal Gazette and the 60-day rule remained in force. Check with the Royal Thai Embassy or the Tourism Authority of Thailand before you travel.

Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)
All visitors to Thailand must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card before arriving. Submit it free at tdac.immigration.go.th within 72 hours of your scheduled arrival. A QR code confirmation will be sent to your email.
How long you can stay
New Zealand travellers can currently stay for up to 60 days per entry. A 30-day extension can be obtained at any Thai immigration office for 1,900 THB.
Passport validity requirements
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your arrival date in Thailand.
Proof of funds and financial requirements
The standard funds requirement is 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family. Bank card, cash, or a bank statement are all acceptable.
Onward or return travel
A confirmed return or onward flight should be carried when travelling under the visa exemption.
Health requirements
No vaccinations are required for New Zealand citizens to enter Thailand. Consulting a travel health clinic before your trip is recommended.

Thailand’s drug laws carry heavy penalties including the death penalty for trafficking. E-cigarettes and vaping devices are banned.
